In 1926 an international fair was held in Philadelphia to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Half dollars and quarter dollars were issued to help raise funds for the fair. For the first time a portrait of a president appeared on a coin struck during his lifetime. Presidents Washington and Coolidge are on the obverse. The reverse is a model of the Liberty Bell.
