The 10th quarter issued in the American Women series features Maria Tallchief in a ballet dance pose on the reverse. Maria was widely considered to be America’s first major prima ballerina. She was a member of the Osage Nation. Her Osage name, which translates to "Two Standards" is written in Osage orthography.
