2024-S American Innovation Dollar Reverse Proof Set

The state of Missouri is featured on the 25th coin in the American Innovation Dollar program.  The design on this coin celebrates George Washington Carver, an Agricultural Scientist who helped save the south's agrarian economy by sharing his beliefs and findings regarding single-crop overuse.  George was born into slavery in the City of Diamond, MO.  Later, he became the first Black student at Tuskegee University where he graduated with a Master of Science degree in 1896.  He eventually taught at the same University.  He designed and built an agricultural school and laboratory on wheels known as the Jessup Wagon.  He used this wagon to visit other farmers and share his knowledge and ideas on crop rotation and practical farming methods.
