The reverse design features George Washington’s signature and the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “AMERICAN INNOVATORS,” and “SIGNED FIRST PATENT.” The stylized gears represent industry and innovation.
The year of minting, mint mark, and inscription “E PLURIBUS UNUM” are incused on the edge of the coin.
